Measure B garners community support
The Marin Independent Journal endorses this initiative.
In order to get the Measure B on the June 2010 ballot, Fund Our Future Committee volunteers had to collect at least 817 valid signatures from registered San Anselmo voters. With 55 energetic volunteers, the Committee gathered 1,656 signatures during a rainy 3-week period. Read more.
What would the measure do?
Funds provided through this initiative will be used to:
- increase the purchasing budget for books, dvds, audios and other materials by at least 50%;
- allow the library to open 50 hours and 7 days a week;
- hire a Children’s Librarian and additional technical staff;
- support increased specialized programming for all ages; and
- improve the number and capabilities of public computer workstations.
How much will it cost me?
The proposed parcel tax is $49 per year, which amounts to a little over 13 cents per day per family (and if you itemize federal deductions, it can be as little as 10 cents a day, since property taxes are federally deductible).
How can I help?
