For less than $1 per week, the library could open 7 days a week, hire a children’s librarian, and increase its purchasing budget by 50 percent!

 

More books, hours, and services for the San Anselmo Library

This initiative is needed because the San Anselmo Library lost one third of its budget in 2006 due to an economic crisis suffered by San Anselmo Town government. It is the poorest public library in Marin. Library hours have been cut to 36 hours a week. There is no longer a Children’s Librarian and many children’s services and programs have been eliminated. The budget for new books, movies and computers is greatly reduced. learn more

 

Measure B garners community support

The Marin Independent Journal endorses this initiative.

In order to get the Measure B on the June 2010 ballot, Fund Our Future Committee volunteers had to collect at least 817 valid signatures from registered San Anselmo voters. With 55 energetic volunteers, the Committee gathered 1,656 signatures during a rainy 3-week period. Read more.

The proposed parcel tax is $49 per year, which amounts to a little over 13 cents per day per family (and if you itemize federal deductions, it can be as little as 10 cents a day, since property taxes are federally deductible).
